It was a cold and rainy day in Osaka, and Kumi, the third daughter of three sisters, sat on the couch in her small apartment, staring out the window. It had been three years since she had left her hometown and married Atsushi, and she couldn’t help but feel a twinge of sadness as she thought of her parents back in Kyushu. They had retired from their farm and moved to a small town nearby, where they were living a quiet and peaceful life. Kumi’s sisters, Maika and Hitomi, had stayed behind in the family home, and Kumi often thought of them and wondered what their lives were like.
One day, after giving birth to Kumi, Kumi’s mother decided to move in with Kumi and Atsushi, bringing with her all of her belongings and her love for cooking. Kumi’s father soon followed, and the two of them set up a small kitchen in the apartment and began to cook and bake for Kumi and Atsushi.
