Touka had been staking out a suspect for weeks, but the heat of the summer and the lack of sleep were beginning to take their toll. She had always been a single-minded investigator, but the heat and the days of abstinence were starting to cloud her judgment. She longed for something, anything, to break the monotony of the case.
It was on one of these long, hot days that she ran into a junior investigator, Jun. Touka was immediately drawn to Jun’s bright eyes and quick wit. They began to talk, and before she knew it, they were sharing a drink and a laugh.
